“Apply”는 바로 그 순간부터 루이가 그리기 시작한 드로잉을 그대로 담아낸 책입니다. 마치 오랫동안 잠겨 있던 수도꼭지를 틀자마자 한꺼번에 쏟아져 나오는 물처럼, 종이 위에는 수많은 인물, 사물, 동물들이 갑자기 등장해 각자의 강렬하면서도 어딘가 부조리한 삶을 살아가는 모습을 담아냅니다.
In 2017, while Louis Gary was applying for several calls for artistic projects, a friend called him asking if he was still drawing. Following this phone call, seeking to escape the anxiety and boredom provoked by these call for applications, he returned to his drawing practice, which he had put aside for several years.
“Apply” reproduces the drawing book that Louis Gary started to create at that very moment: as though gushing from a tap that was waiting to be turned back on, comes a host of characters, objects and animals that seem to be leading their own intense and absurd lives on the surface of the paper.
